We have started the work for the outside area after undoing the scaffolding. As for the inside, we are progressing with the work for staircase, the bathroom, the kitchen, the tatami room and the fire place.

Itakura Method in Zushi / 板倉工法 Part 10
Now the house has been treated against termite. Usually thujopsis oil (Hiba-yu) is widely used as termite control but this time, we applied boric acid which has stronger effect since the house was very close to woods. We can also expect it to last for years to come as boric acid is not so volatile.

Back to the Itakura method house, we are working on roofing. There won’t be a flat ceiling on the second floor. The roof itself will be one which is also 30mm thick like the walls.
