A Tea Ceremony Room in Kamakura / 鎌倉市 茶室新築工事 Part 2
We can see some progress today. (日本語は下へ)
We are working on the Shitajimado which is basically mud wall foundation. However, we are going to leave the foundation, polished reed latticed and woven with wisteria vines, out in a shape of circle. This is a special technique left by one’s predecessors with the aim of taking lights and shadows in. This is also where plasterers are going to show their skills. This time, there will be Shoji inside the window.

大分進んできました^_^
今日は下地窓をつくっています。
磨き葦(よし)を縦横に並べて藤蔓で編んでいきます、本来塗り壁の下地になるのですが部分的に塗り残すことによって室内に光や影を取り込む、先人が考えた素晴らしい知恵と技術から生まれたものです。今回は半円形に塗り残し、内側に障子がはしります。左官やさんの腕の見せどころでもあります^_^
